New renewables expert for CLA
Tom will provide advice to CLA members on all types of renewable energy projects and work closely on all aspects of government policy including the Renewable Heat Incentive, Feed-in Tariffs and the Renewables Obligation helping to meet the UK’s target to generate 15 percent of energy from renewable sources by 2020.
Before joining the CLA, Tom was head of the customer advice team at the Carbon Trust, advising businesses on how to reduce carbon emissions.
CLA Director Midlands Caroline Bedell said: “This new role highlights the growing importance of the renewable energy sector to land managers, and will provide invaluable support to the expertise already available from the regional team. Tom’s experience will be an invaluable asset to our members across the Midlands.”
Tom said: “I look forward to working with CLA members, advising how they can benefit from renewables and develop policy to ensure the countryside plays a part in the small-scale renewable revolution.”
He was brought up on a small arable farm near Stratford-upon-Avon and is based at the CLA’s London headquarters.
