Wales Veterinary Science Centre Celebrates 10 Years with Veterinary Award
The Wales Veterinary Science Centre (WVSC) is on July 29th celebrating its tenth anniversary with the launch of a ‘Veterinary Champion Cymru’ award.
The accolade will be presented to a veterinary practitioner who has made a significant contribution in the area of livestock health and welfare in Wales.
Dr Hazel Wright, WVSC Centre Manager, said: “The Welsh veterinary profession not only makes a tremendous contribution to livestock health and welfare but also contributes significantly to wider societal aims such as health education, combatting antimicrobial resistance and reducing the environmental impact of agriculture.
“This award is designed to recognise such contributions and provide a platform to inspire and encourage vets working under what can often be difficult and challenging circumstances.”
To nominate an individual, a letter or citation giving full details of the work and achievements of the nominee should be sent to the WVSC via enquiries@wvsc.wales or by post direct to the centre. Nominations should have an emphasis on the positive impact made on livestock health and welfare within a Welsh setting.
Dr Kate Hovers, WVSC Director, stated: “We’re keen to receive nominations from both individuals and groups and we look forward to learning about the valuable work being done by the veterinary profession here in Wales.
“It is hoped that this award will not only showcase the veterinary profession to current and aspiring vets but will also inspire others to go ‘above and beyond’ what may normally be expected for the betterment of both animal and public health” added Dr Hovers.
The deadline for entries is the 30th September 2025.
