Welsh union issues single application form warnings to farmers

7 June 2011

Farmers have been advised to verify their Single Application Form statements are free from errors and contact the Welsh Government as soon as possible with any concerns they may have.

The Farmers’ Union of Wales (FUW) issued a warning to farmers last week, explaining hefty penalties can be incurred for corrections or late forms received after the 31st May deadline, with forms being rejected out of hand from 10th June.

FUW president Gareth Vaughan advised farmers, "If you haven't received any kind of acknowledgement that [the Welsh Assembly Government] has received your IACS form, then you should contact WAG as soon as possible in case the form has somehow been lost."

Under EC rules, any forms received between 17th May and 10th June will incur financial penalties, however, forms received after 10th June will be completely rejected. From 31st May until to 10th June amendments to add field parcels, change the use of land parcels, or changes to the claims made on land parcels will lead to a late submission penalty of 1% per working day.
