Farming News - Origin Soil Nutrition at LAMMA 25

Origin Soil Nutrition at LAMMA 25

Origin Soil Nutrition (previously Origin Fertilisers) will return to LAMMA 25 displaying practical demonstrations of micronutrition, updates to its recently announced NUE-Leg project, and promoting a name change to better reflect the products and service to farmers and growers.

The in-house team of nutrition agronomists will be on stand to show how micronutrient additions are an essential part of prescription fertiliser. Origin now offers over 18,000 different products to match soil deficiencies, with this figure growing daily. Visitors can watch how the wide selection of micronutrient coatings are electrostatically charged to the granules

Mandy McAulay, head of marketing and product sustainability, says demonstrating the advantages of applying nutrients in this way is essential. “We can visually show how the micronutrient coatings are applied to the granules and how these remain during application. By adding the micronutrient in this way, it is evenly coated across 100% of the granules providing maximum soil and root interactions. Live demonstrations are the best way to show farmers and growers how it attaches to the granule.

LAMMA also represents a chance for the company to provide an update on NUE-Leg – a collaborative research and trial project exploring ways to reduce the carbon footprint of grassland. Part of this will be assessing new prescription nutrition products, through Origin’s Nutri-Match service, to work in tandem with increased efficiency clovers, as Mandy explains.

“We now have crops in the ground on our trial farms and we will monitor these over the next year, applying different nutrition formulations and measure the outcomes. The information gained from this will enable us to reduce the carbon footprint, increase sustainability, and help grassland farmers become more productive with modern clover.”

Finally, Origin will be at the show under its new trading name – changing from Origin Fertilisers to Origin Soil Nutrition. The change won’t affect how farmers buy their fertiliser but reflects its focus on matching prescription nutrition to soil nutrient deficiencies to improve sustainability and the environment, while providing tailored advice on improving soil health.

Origin Soil Nutrition will be on stand 11.210.
