New partnership brings together AD and the food industry
A unique new partnership between The Anaerobic Digestion and Biogas Association (ADBA) and Foodex will for the first time see anaerobic digestion (AD) included as a major feature at the UK show for food manufacturing, processing and logistics.
Foodex visitors will now be able to visit a newly created AD and Biogas Zone showcasing AD builders, equipment suppliers and service providers as well as attend daily seminar sessions featuring information on AD, the different options available, the opportunities it offers the food industry and real life case studies of businesses already using AD.
ADBA has worked closely with the organisers of Foodex to present the different options available to food processors and manufacturers with the Foodex live and logistics@foodex programmes including treating your food waste onsite through AD and waste collections for AD.
ADBA’s Chief Executive Charlotte Morton said:
“AD is an exciting prospect for the food manufacturing, processing and logistics sector, not only can it reduce waste treatment costs for businesses and the carbon footprint of your business but it can also transform waste streams into valuable assets, which can make a real difference to profit margins and operational costs.
“This is a dynamic industry with huge growth potential and companies entering the market all the time. Tamar is an excellent example: launched last month with the financial banking of The Prince of Wales and retail giant Sainsbury’s, they are clearly helping to raise the profile and benefits of AD among food processors and manufacturers, with Sainsbury’s committing to help its suppliers send their food waste to AD.”
