HGCA Board gains valuable experience
Two people with a huge amount of experience in the grain industry have been appointed to the board of HGCA.
Howard Leland and Jane Biss were appointed by the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) and fill the vacant processor posts. They took up their positions at the start of December.
HGCA chairman Jonathan Tipples said: “I am delighted to welcome Howard and Jane to the Board and look forward to working with them.
“They both have a great deal of experience which will be valuable to the industry in their new positions.”
Howard is a main board member of Allied Mills based at Tilbury where he is Procurement Director. He has extensive experience of the grain trade having previously been on the Board of Mardorf Peach and Co Ltd. He is also the immediate past chairman of the nabim Wheat Committee.
Jane currently manages feed procurement for the Bernard Mathews group and also chairs its internal risk management group, which looks at forward buying policies. Prior to that, Jane worked for Dalgety Agriculture selling fertilisers, seed and agrochemicals while also buying grains and oilseeds.
