Aldi doubles its fresh British lamb range
Aldi, the UK’s fastest growing supermarket, is doubling the size of its fresh lamb range by stocking more products sourced exclusively from British Red Tractor assured farms.
As part of its long-standing policy to only stock British lamb all year round, Aldi has added four new lines to its fresh lamb category.
These products, which are now available from Aldi stores across the UK, include neck fillet, lamb breast, diced lamb and lamb shoulder.
More than two thirds (69 per cent) of Aldi’s products are British sourced, including all fresh milk, bakery goods and its entire core range of fresh meat. Furthermore, Aldi is the only supermarket to source fresh British lamb all year round.
Tony Baines, Joint Managing Director of Buying, Aldi UK said:
“We have doubled the size of our fresh lamb category in response to increased demand from our customers. Fresh British lamb is a versatile product that can be used all year round and we are confident the new lines will prove popular with shoppers.
“All of our fresh lamb is sourced exclusively within the UK from Red Tractor assured farms throughout the year, and provenance is clearly labelled to let customers know they are buying a British product.”
Aldi recently became the first major grocery retailer, and the only supermarket, to sign up to the NFU’s Fruit and Veg Pledge, which is a series of initiatives that support British producers, as well as being a signatory of the NFU’s Back British Farming charter.
