Wyke Farms Celebrates Major Wins at the Mid Somerset Show, Honouring a Legacy of Family Heritage and Champion Dairy
Won Overall Show Champion Cheese Title Alongside 17 Further Awards
The UK's largest independent cheese producer and a leading renewable energy pioneer, today announced a series of impressive wins at the Mid Somerset Show, reinforcing its reputation as England's leading cheddar maker, making world-class cheddar.
The company's Mature Cheddar was honoured as the 'Overall Show Champion Cheese', while its Vintage Cheddar captured both 'Reserve Champion' and 'Regional Champion titles'. Additionally, Wyke Farms Mature Cheddar also achieved the 'Reserve Somerset Champion award'.
Beyond these top distinctions, Wyke Farms brought home 4 'gold', 6 'silver', and 5 'bronze' medals for its Cheddar, Red Leicester and Butter, underscoring the breadth and quality of its dairy craftsmanship.
Wyke Farms' strong legacy is closely tied to the Mid Somerset Show. More than a century ago, medals were awarded to Albert 'Jim' Thorne - father of Ivy Clothier - for Champion Dairy cows, cementing the family's place in the region's agricultural history. Those medals are still proudly displayed at the farm, symbolising Wyke Farms' enduring commitment to quality and tradition.
Rich Clothier, Managing Director and 3rd generation cheesemaker at Wyke Farms, says: "We are thrilled with our award wins, it is a testament to the quality, skill and dedication that goes into our cheddar and butter making."
The full list of cheese awards from the show is available on the Mid Somerset Show's website.
Wyke Farms extends gratitude to its team and loyal supporters, celebrating both the company's heritage and ongoing commitment to excellence in Somerset dairy.
Wyke Farms' award-winning Cheddar is produced in the heart of Somerset using milk from the company's own herds and contracted Red Tractor-assured family farms, most within 50 miles of its Bruton dairy. Wyke Farms branded products are available in selected UK Lidl stores, Southwest ASDA and Tesco stores, and online. Its Ivy's Reserve branded products are available in Tesco, Sainsburys, Waitrose and Ocado.
