Withdrawal period for Flukiver 50mg/ml Oral Suspension increases to 56 days

Sheep farmers are being advised that the withdrawal period for Flukiver™ Oral Suspension containing the active ingredient closantel has been extended from 42 days to 56 days.

Matt Colston, Elanco ruminant technical consultant explains: “Any users of these products should be aware that this new withdrawal period comes into immediate effect. New stock with updated labelling reflecting the revised withdrawal periods will be available on shelves in the near future.”

He adds: “This is a regulatory update, and no changes have been made to the product formulation; it continues to offer the same benefits and should be used in the same way.”

Mr Colston says selecting the right product at the right time remains key to effective parasite control and Flukiver™ 50 mg/ml Oral Suspension is a valuable option for sheep farmers managing:

  • Inhibited, immature and adult stages of Haemonchus contortus (barber’s pole worm)
  • Chronic and subacute liver fluke infections caused by adult and immature Fasciola hepatica in sheep and lambs
  • Oestrus ovis (sheep nasal bot fly)

Flukiver 50 mg/ml Oral Suspension can be used in all age groups of sheep and lambs, including during pregnancy and in rams during the breeding season.
