Wind turbine open days

Farmers and land owners are invited to attend a “wind turbine open day” to learn more about the benefits that on-farm wind energy represents for energy security and additional income. Upcoming events are being organised by the Royal Agricultural Society of England and Endurance Wind Power in affiliation with Aeolus Power (Wind Energy), Earthmill Ltd and Hallmark Power.

Three farmers across England and Wales are opening up their businesses to others interested in finding out how they can cut costs and increase income by diversifying into green energy:

  • · Friday 25th April at Felindre Village Hall, Felindre, Knighton, Powys, LD7 1YW with a farm tour at Bryndraenog Farm, Knighton.
  • · Tuesday 6th May at Coniscliffe Grange Farm, Staindrop Road, Darlington, County Durham, DL2 2NF
  • · Wednesday 7th May at Springers Lodge, Arram Road, Leconfield, Beverley, HU17 7PZ.

The events will include a visit to the wind turbine, a tour of the farm as well as experts on hand to discuss:-

  • · The financial benefits of on-farm wind power;
  • · Installation costs;
  • · Where best to site a turbine;
  • · Planning requirements;
  • · Liaison with OFGEM and obtaining Feed in Tariffs (FiTs);
  • · Opportunities for renewable on-farm fuel;

The events will take place from 10am to 2pm with lunch and refreshments provided.
