Welsh lamb and rural crime top of the agenda for FUW at Anglesey Agricultural show

The Anglesey branch of the Farmers’ Union of Wales is looking forward to a busy Anglesey Agricultural Show, which is held on Tuesday 15 August and Wednesday 16 August.

Those visiting the Union stand can look forward to cooking demonstrations from local Chef Mel Thomas, using fresh local produce and 'Damara Mon' lamb.

There will also be some 'fat tail' Damara sheep on the FUW stand for all to see. Further details on this venture can be found here:  https://www.damaramon.com/

The Rural Crime Team will be present on both days - promoting the 'We don't buy crime' campaign and are on hand to discuss any issues members have.

Pennant Finance will also present for both days and are ready to help members with any questions they might have.

Local singer Meryl Elin will be lightening the mood with some entertainment on the first day of the show and local male choir 'Hogia Bodwrog' to close on the second day.

The county office has also arranged for a raffle, and plenty of fun activities for the children, and a cuppa, cake and chat await the adults.

The FUW is also delighted to be handing all the young handler competitors a special FUW rosette for competing.

Speaking ahead of the show, FUW Anglesey county executive officer Alaw Jones said:

“We look forward to welcoming members and friends of the Union to our stand. It promises to be a great 2 day event and I hope many of you can join us.

“On our members behalf we will also be discussing those issues that present barriers to the future of sustainable, thriving, family farms here on Anglesey and across Wales with local politicians who have been invited to join us during the course of the show.”
