Welsh campaign to boost profile of organic food
After consecutive reports have shown a fall in market share for organic produce, a new marketing campaign being launched by the Organic Centre Wales aims to reverse the trend.
The campaign, which OCW hopes will support organic farmers and producers in Wales, will promote organic food on a variety of mediums in different locations across Wales; the centre claims the multimedia campaign is the first of its kind.
The campaign includes posters in supermarkets, radio promotion, educational programmes for schools and an online presence. The online presence includes a Facebook page, which will tout the benefits of organic food, provide recipes, run competitions and host information about organic farming.
OCW spokesperson Dafydd Owen hopes the campaign will inform and attract consumers and “explode myths” about organic food. Mr Owen said, “The reputation and popularity of Welsh produce continues to grow, and many of our leading producers use organic production methods.”
