Bluetongue Serotype 8 was detected in the South‑West of England towards the end of last year’s vector season and has since been confirmed in the South‑East, including East Sussex. With the risk of Bluetongue remaining a significant concern for the UK agricultural sector, the immediate availability of Syvazul BTV 8 comes at a crucial time as farmers prepare for the peak midge season.

Vaccination against Bluetongue Virus Serotype 8 (BTV‑8) remains the most effective tool for reducing clinical signs and lowering viral load within a herd or flock.

Syvazul BTV 8 is authorised for:

• Sheep: Prevention of viraemia and reduction of clinical signs and lesions caused by BTV‑8
• Cattle: Prevention of viraemia caused by BTV‑8

The vaccine can be used during pregnancy and lactation and carries a zero‑day withdrawal period, supporting uninterrupted farm productivity.
