Two plant scientists from The Australian National University and the French Institute of Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI) have called for the United Nations to guarantee free and open access to plant DNA sequences to enable scientists from all over the world to continue work on food plants, and ensure that improved knowledge of key organisms is not solely the preserve of rich corporations and states.
