UK farmers' groups have slammed new Food Standards Agency plans to pass the full cost of abattoir inspections on to meat and livestock producers.

The move would see producers and processors gradually shoulder an additional annual cost of up to £31.8 million (€37.4m) as the FSA looks to cut its own costs.
