Two days to make amendments to SPS applications

Single Payment Scheme applicants have until Thursday to make any necessary amendments to their applications, the Rural Payments Agency has said.

The first deadline for SPS applications was Friday 15th May, by which time the RPA said it had received 103,000 applications, of which 42 per cent of applications were submitted online. The RPA announced last week that drop-in centres had closed and said final figures will be issued in mid-June, once the agency has collated the various applications.

Following the passing of the May 15th deadline, late applications will be subject to penalties of 1 per cent per working day until 9th June. After that date the agency will no longer accept applications.

An RPA spokesperson also advised online claimants to verify that they have completed the application process and their form has been received by the agency. The spokesperson said, “We have a small number of customers who have registered and started to use SPS Online but have not submitted an electronic application. We ask customers to check they have received an on screen acknowledgement that their application has been received and a follow up e-mail receipt.

“If they have not got one of these it may be because they have not yet submitted their application successfully.  Where possible we have sent reminders by e-mail and we will continue to try to contact these customers.”

Any amendments, including adding land parcels, can still be made without incurring a penalty until Thursday (31st May). RPA said more information can be found at rpa.defra.gov.uk/sps2012 or applicants can call 0845 603 7777 to verify their application has been received.
