Tom Finn appointed President of the British Meat Processors Association

Tom Finn, CEO of Kepak Meat Division UK, has been appointed President of the British Meat Processors Association (BMPA), with a focus on strengthening collaboration across the food supply chain from farm to shelf.

His presidency will prioritise supporting a resilient, competitive food system, underpinned by the recognition that food security is national security and that farmers, processors and retailers are connected parts of essential national infrastructure.

The British Meat Processors Association represents the majority of companies working in the British meat industry. The red and white meat processing industry employs over 75,000 people, with business worth over £12 billion a year to the British economy.

It represents members that range from small, family run abattoirs serving local customers, to the largest meat processing companies responsible for supplying some of our best-loved brands to shops and supermarkets.

Commenting on his appointment, Tom Finn said: “It is a real privilege to take on the role of BMPA President, at a time when food security is national security.

“From livestock farmers through to processors and retailers, we are one connected supply chain. Profitable farming, a competitive processing sector and a reliable supply of high-quality food for consumers are inseparable.

“Working with industry and Government, we need to create the conditions for long-term investment, greater productivity and confidence in British food production,” he added.

“I look forward to playing my part as we build on the progress already made, and make the case for our industry’s contribution to the country’s security, economy and rural communities.”

Tom Finn has spent 30 years with Kepak in operational and commercial roles and was appointed CEO of Kepak Meat Division UK in 2024. From a farming background, he brings extensive experience across the beef and lamb supply chain.

He paid a particular tribute to Tom Kirwan of ABP, whose leadership and commitment as BMPA President over the past four years has strengthened BMPA’s voice and standing, to create a strong foundation to build on.

BMPA Chief Executive John Powell added: “We are delighted to welcome Tom Finn as President of BMPA. His experience and understanding of the whole supply chain will be invaluable as we continue to build relationships across the supply chain, elaborate our new vision and strategy for the coming 3-5 years with members, and take forward our work with Government.

“Tom’s collaborative approach will help us bring the industry together around the shared priorities of securing livestock supply, improving competitiveness and creating the conditions for investment.”

BMPA is developing a new three-to-five-year strategy shaped by its members, alongside its engagement with Government on food security, trade, regulation and future livestock policy.
