Syngenta reports growth in 2011

Swiss agrochemical giant Syngenta, reportedly the world’s largest agrochemical company, today reported a 14 per cent rise in net profit for the past year. The company has forecasted further growth and sales for 2012.

The Swiss firm recorded a €1.2 billion euro profit last year, in line with predictions and sales increased by 14 per cent to around €10 billion.

Syngenta chief executive Mike Mack said that, despite volatile crop prices, the company had seen rising demand. In a statement he claimed, "This growth is concentrated in emerging markets where our sales increased by 18 percent to represent just under half of the total."

The Swiss based company operates in around 90 countries worldwide and specialises in developing chemical insecticides.
