Support for agritech adoption at South West Showcase
Attendees at this year's South West AgriTech Showcase will be able to hear about the support available for the development and adoption of agritech solutions to on-farm challenges.
"We understand that it can be challenging for farmers, landowners, and land managers to keep track of the latest technological innovation, or access support around commercialising their own innovation," says Anthony Higson. He is the business innovation manager at the Satellite Applications Catapult's Environmental Space Living Lab (ESLL), which is the headline sponsor of the event.
"Similarly, those developing new solutions often find it difficult to connect with end users and access real-world test environments."
This is where the ESLL comes in, a project designed to bridge the gap between farmers, landowners, and land managers, to ensure innovations are fit for purpose and scalable in ever-changing markets.
"We're excited to showcase the work of the ESLL and the innovative companies it supports at the event; demonstrating how satellite-enabled technologies and innovation can transform the agriculture and environmental sectors, as well as increase profitability and efficiency," says Mr Higson.
The ESLL team will also be joined at the Showcase by the two winners of the recent ESLL water quality and resource efficiency competition. CSEQ Technologies and FreeUP are both start-ups, which have been selected to receive support of up to £15,000.
FreeUP aims to revolutionise environmental monitoring with its innovative approach. Its low-cost sensors tailored for water bodies provide extensive, specific, data, enabling informed decision-making in real time.
CSEQ Technologies, designed by a farmer, for farmers, has developed an automated sprayer control system designed to minimise run-off and pollution. This innovative technology aims to prevent the overuse of chemicals and at an affordable price point.
"This is a really exciting time for innovation in agriculture," says Joanna Rufus, chair of South West AgriTech. "We're looking forward to welcoming the Satellite Applications Catapult, ESLL, CSEQ Technologies and FreeUP to the Showcase so that attendees can hear first-hand the latest developments in this area."
Visit the Satellite Applications Catapult and ESLL in the Market Place and attend Anthony Higson's presentation at 9:55am, as well as presentations by CSEQ Technologies and FreeUP at 10:15am and 10:25am, respectively.
