Solar FITs to remain unchanged over winter

Solar Feed in Tariffs will remain the same until at least May 2013, Ofgem has revealed. FITs were due to fall by 3.5 percent every three months, depending on uptake. However, official figures for the past three months reveal that domestic, small-medium and large projects are all below degression thresholds set by the government.

The Gas and Electricity Markets Authority (Ofgem) unveiled its latest feed-in tariff rates, covering 1st February – 30th April. The document is available here

The NFU welcomed the decision, which it posited was partly the result of the complexity of the government's feed-in tariff regulations. The union's renewable energy advisor Dr Jonathan Scurlock admitted he was "Baffled" by the government formula for determining changes to FITs, though he said solar power remains a "tremendous investment".
