The Silage Advisory Centre has redesigned its website with features to offer farmers easy access to a wealth of information to help them in their everyday decision making on silage production.

With an improved library of advisory resources, new informative videos with insights from industry experts and a new “Ask the experts” feature, The Silage Advisory Centre (SilAC) website now offers a wealth of information to help farmers in their everyday decision-making on silage production.

Visitors will find timely advice on topics ranging from grassland management through to feeding techniques for quality silage production. The website releaunch coincides with this year’s Dairy Event & Livestock show, where farmers can see demonstrations of how to use the new features at the SilAC stand (No. 394 in the Feeds & Forage zone).

The new “Ask the experts” feature gives guests to the site the opportunity to simply enter a question on-line and receive a response within 48 hours of submission from a relevant expert. SilAC revealed its team of experts include Dave Davies, director of Silage Solutions; Rhun Fychan, research scientist at IBERS; Graham Ragg, Arable & Fertiliser Sales Manager for Mole Valley Farmers; Lloyd Dawson, Area Sales Manager for bpi.agri and Paul Billings, Agricultural Director British Seed Houses Ltd.

SilAC’s range of advisory resources offer advice on some of the common issues farmers face during silage production. Material including published articles, quick and easy factsheets and a series of SilAC-produced videos, covering topics such as Grassland Management, Baling and Wrapping and Silage Quality will be available to help aid farmers’ silage-making practices and ensure they make the highest quality silage possible to increase productivity and ultimately profitability on their farms.
