A host of new JCB agricultural machines will make their Scottish debut at the Royal Highland Show, which runs from Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 June at Ingliston, Edinburgh.

Among the newcomers that JCB dealership Scot Agri plans to exhibit on its stand (R266A) are two all-new Telemaster telescopic wheeled loaders, the latest high-lift Loadall telehandler, and the upgraded 435S wheeled loader – a big hit with silage-making and muck spreading contractors.

Will Fleming, Agricultural Sales Director, Scot Agri, said: “JCB has built on its already outstanding range of farm handling machines with additional Loadall variants catering for different performance needs, and three telescopic wheeled loaders of a size and performance level not seen in the JCB line-up before.

“We can’t wait to present these machines at the Highland, go through the details with existing and, hopefully, future customers, and explain how the machines’ specs and features can add efficiency, productivity and convenience to their farming operations.”

The new JCB tele-loaders are bound to attract plenty of attention; there are two mid-size versions, the TM280 with 109hp and single-range hydrostatic drive, and the TM280S with 130hp and a transmission with hydrostatic and mechanical elements that optimises low- and higher-speed working.

Both lift 2.75 tonnes to 4.8 metres using a heavy-duty single-stage telescopic boom, and despite having a full-size cab shared with other Telemaster loaders, they measure a best-in-class 2.6 metres to the top of the cabin, enabling access through low doorways.

Smaller still is JCB’s new TM110 telescopic wheeled loader capable of lifting 1.1 tonnes with a 3.5 metre lift height, and powered by a 50hp engine with all-hydrostatic drive.

Standing just 2.2 metres tall and 1.56 metres wide, the TM110 can genuinely “access all areas” while providing more lift capacity, reach and load placement flexibility than a fixed arm mini loader.

For the ultimate in usable lift height, the new JCB Loadall 542-100 AGRI hits the target with 4.2 tonnes max lift capacity and 9.8 metres lift height, both significant gains over the current 536-95.

Yet while the newcomer’s performance boost will appeal to straw contractors and large mixed and arable farms for stacking bales, it is physically no bigger, so just as manoeuvrable for yard work.

Moreover, the 542-100 come solely with the unique JCB DualTech VT hydro-mechanical transmission, providing maximum low-speed control and optimum high-speed efficiency, including a 50kph AGRI Pro version with uprated axles and braking system.

JCB’s 435S loading shovel is pretty much the default choice for silage contractors – and the machine’s outstanding performance credentials have been given a further boost with Dynamic power increased 12% to 282hp for a class-leading 19hp per tonne power-to-weight ratio, and more torque across the rev range.

There are powershift transmission upgrades to make the most of those increases, including a higher stall ratio transmitting up to 25% more power, direct drive auto lock-up in road gears and operator-configurable lock-up for working speeds.

Will Fleming adds: “Together with machines representing JCB’s established Fastrac, Teletruk, mini excavator and diesel generator ranges, we’ll have plenty of reasons to make a bee-line for the Scot Agri stand in its usual location at the Royal Highland Show.”
