Scotland’s top fencing contractors to compete at NSA Scotsheep 2026

National Sheep Association (NSA) Scotland is pleased to announce the return of its highly anticipated fencing competition at NSA Scotsheep 2026, taking place this summer on Wednesday 10th June 2026 at Wedderlie Farm, Gordon, Berwickshire, Scotland.

This year’s competition will once again showcase the exceptional skill, precision and professionalism of Scotland’s fencing contractors, as teams go head-to-head to construct a high-quality stock fence under timed conditions.

The contest will challenge two-person teams to erect 60-70 metres of high tensile stock fencing within just three hours, demonstrating best practice and highlighting the importance of well-built fencing for livestock management and farm efficiency.

New format for 2026

In a change to the traditional format, the 2026 competition will introduce a metal strainer and section of metal posts within the fence build, adding a new technical element and testing competitors’ adaptability across modern fencing systems.

All materials will be provided on the day, including netting, line wire, barbed wire, timber strainers, metal posts and fixings. Competitors will supply their own hand-held tools, with petrol post drivers and staple guns permitted for the metal section.

A showcase of professional standards

The NSA Scotsheep Fencing Competition is a rare opportunity for visitors to witness Scotland’s professional fencing contractors competing live while demonstrating the value of quality workmanship and industry standards.

The competition will run 10.00am - 1.00pm, with prizegiving taking place on the main event stage later in the day.

Prize fund

Winning teams will compete for a share of the prize fund:

1st Prize: £300 and trophy
2nd Prize: £100
3rd Prize: £50
