Save British Farming asks the public to write to their MP about food standards

The Save British Farming campaign group is urging farmers and the public to write to your MP asking them to safeguard food and animal welfare standards on Back British Farming Day using their template letter.

The group was formed to represent farmers, consumers and members of the food production industry and are currently protesting the Agriculture & Trade Bills which they say will ditch British animal welfare and environmental standards for imports, flood the UK market with cheap, low-quality food and destroy Britain’s farming industry.

The letter asks the Government to protect British food from sub-standard imports that do not meet British requirements.

It also highlights that COVID-19 has shown just how important our food security is and stresses how the government and the public need to support British farmers who produce high quality food to feed the nation.

Save British Farming posters have been placed in visible locations all across the country to highlight the importance of retaining our current British standards for food, animal welfare and environmental regulations once the UK leaves the EU at the end of the year.

The group says that is is vital to explain to the public that the best way to back British farming is to buy produce that has the Red Tractor logo on it.
