The Rural Payments Agency last week issued a warning to users of the CTS Online and SPS Online systems over a bogus email, purportedly from 'Government Gateway' or the Agency, but which in fact contains a computer virus.

The Agency said is aware of a bogus email being sent to some customers. The email claims to be from the Government Gateway and tells the recipient that a transaction or payment could not be processed. The email is being sent from the email address ‘gateway.confirmation@gateway.gov.uk’.

The email does not come from RPA or Government Gateway. RPA has urged recipients not to open or respond to mail from the address, and instead to delete it immediately. The email has an attachment which should not be opened as it contains a virus.
