On-going dry weather has led to noticeably shorter straw throughout much of England and Wales this spring; there have been a number of calls for arable farmers to consider the merits of baling rather than incorporating straw this summer.

The HGCA has developed a short guide to help farmers assess some of the pros and cons and costs of removing straw in terms of agronomy, operations and financial value.
