Priorities for the UK food and farming industry: policy, competitiveness and new markets

This timely seminar is bringing together key policymakers and stakeholders to discuss policy priorities for the food and farming sectors as the Government negotiates the UK’s future relationship with the EU.

Delegates will also consider the potential impact of the new Agriculture Bill, which seeks to provide stability for farmers and protect the UK’s natural environment, following the Secretary of State’s commitment to reform agriculture policy, with farming subsidies having a greater focus on environmental stewardship post-Brexit.

They will also discuss the steps that can be taken to support a growing and competitive rural economy whilst ensuring high standards in produce and farming practices. Further sessions will look at priorities for exporting UK food produce and securing new international trade agreements, as well as how to address the challenges of access to a skilled workforce.

Taking place on 1st February in Central London, the agenda includes keynote addresses from Sally Warren, Director of Food, Defra and David Watson, Senior Trade and Investment Commissioner, Australian Trade and Investment Commission, London.
