Bayer Pollen Beetle Predictor is now showing good migration conditions over much of the southern half of England.

Over the last ten days most parts of the country have experienced periods of typical spring temperature in the region of 15^oC. As a result Bayer Pollen Beetle Predictor is showing that migration has started in the vicinity of virtually all 91 met stations. Only Perth and Haverfordwest have yet to see suitable conditions.

Currently good migration conditions prevail across much of the southern half of the country as shown on the ‘new migration’ map with most met stations now yellow south of a line from the river Mersey to the Wash. When your nearest met station has been yellow for three consecutive days (some already have been) or red for just one day, it’s the prompt to get into crops and assess average numbers of beetles per plant against thresholds.

Growers should use this tool until their nearest met station on the ‘percent migration’ map turns red (indicating migration complete) or until their crops begin flowering in earnest i.e. GS62 when 75% of the crop has 20% flowers open on main shoot.
