Planning urged ahead of strike action
Farmers are being reminded that strike actions will take place across the UK next week, and, if necessary, advised to plan ahead, as industrial action could cause issues, at meat plants in particular.
The NFU today recommended that farmers planning to have animals slaughtered on Wednesday 30th November speak to their preferred livestock agents and abattoirs ahead of actions. Planned industrial action by public service workers next week may mean the Food Standards Agency will not operate in licensed premises.
As FSA is responsible for the compulsory meat hygiene inspection regime and its workers are UNISON union members, they may not be operating. UNISON is supporting the planned strike action.
