Penalty warning over tax return deadline
HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has urging farmers to either send back their paper self-assessment tax return or fill in the return online. The deadline for returns is 31st October and HMRC has warned that those failing to meet the deadline will face a penalty.
Anyone submitting their tax return after 1st November will incur a £100 penalty regardless of whether there is tax to pay or the tax due is paid on time following new regulation. There are also late-filing penalties after three, six and twelve months.
More information on the October deadline and on sending a paper tax return is available at the HMRC website, here.
