Pembrokeshire County Show promises to be a combination of traditional style competitions with new exciting attractions
This month’s Pembrokeshire County Show, Wales’ largest county agricultural show, is gearing up to be a spectacular celebration of rural life, bursting with farming heritage, delicious local food, family-friendly entertainment and exciting new attractions.
Taking place on Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 August at the Pembrokeshire County Showground, Withybush, Haverfordwest, the event promises more space, more variety and more reasons to visit — whether you're local or enjoying a summer holiday in the county.
Tim & Margaret Johns, Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society Presidents said, “We’re thrilled to welcome our members, competitors, trade stands, sponsors and the wider community back to the county show. Whether you’re from Pembrokeshire or visiting, we’re confident you’ll have a fantastic day out. This year’s show is packed with attractions and activities for all ages. From top-quality livestock and delicious local food to countryside experiences and live entertainment - there really is something for everyone.”
Families are in for a roaring treat with Rentadinosaur — a thrilling new feature bringing prehistoric fun to life through live shows, meet-and-greets, and dino-themed adventures.
A brand-new Taste of Wellbeing area invites visitors to unwind and explore health, nutrition, therapies and self-care. From reflexology and nutritional advice to mental health support and counselling, it’s a space to relax, recharge and learn.
The show features a fresh layout, including a newly resurfaced area designed to enhance the experience for both visitors and traders. With an increase in trade stands, there’s even more to explore, shop and discover. The Food Hall has moved to a brand-new location where local producers will showcase their mouth-watering offerings. Sponsored by Castell Howell, the Food Hall will also host live cookery demonstrations and serve up the very best in Welsh produce.
The much-loved Country Market is back with over 60 stalls offering artisan crafts and local treasures and don’t miss the majestic Gentle Giant Black Shire Horses from Moylegrove. They will wow the crowds - including a special appearance in Haverfordwest town centre on Tuesday, 19 August.
The Craft and Horticulture section will be bursting with colour, creativity and inspiration for all ages, while the Countryside Park brings together classic rural displays including Ferret World, gundog demonstrations, beekeeping, wool spinning, willow weaving and wood turning.
The Pure West Radio stage will be buzzing with live entertainment across both days including music, dance, guest appearances, competitions and live broadcasts.
Children will love the Food Story area — a hands-on, interactive space where they can learn where their food comes from in a fun and engaging way. The Andrew Holmes Funfair also returns to keep the excitement going all day long.
As the second day of the show lands on GCSE results day there will be lots of organisations on hand to discuss future career prospects including Dyfed Powys Police, Mid & West Wales Fire Safety, the Welsh Ambulance Trust, the Army, Royal Navy, Border Force, Pembrokeshire College and the Hywel Dda University Health Board. All will be on hand to give advice, support those in need, or discuss training and volunteering opportunities.
Hop aboard the land train to get around the showground with enjoyable ease. Blue Badge parking, a Mobiloo service, as well as mobility scooter and wheelchair hire (via www.pembsshow.org) will be available.
