NSA Northern Ireland invests in future farmers through CAFRE Bursary Programme
The National Sheep Association Northern Ireland (NSA NI) Region is thrilled to announce its participation in the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE) Bursary Programme for the first time, providing a £1,500 bursary to a deserving young agriculture student.
This year marks a milestone for NSA Northern Ireland Region in joining the esteemed CAFRE Bursary Programme, demonstrating the NSA’s commitment to supporting the next generation of sheep farmers.
Receiving the bursary this year will be 19 year old Hannah Smith. Hannah is currently studying towards a BSc in Agricultural Technology with Professional Studies at Queens University, Belfast and The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE).
NSA Northern Ireland Regional Coordinator Ellen Moorehead says: “We were delighted to be part of the selection process and to contribute to the success of students at CAFRE.
“The competition for bursaries within the CAFRE Programme was fierce, with numerous impressive applicants showcasing their dedication to agriculture. However, Hannah Smith's application stood out, making her a truly worthy and deserving winner.”
Hannah's application demonstrated a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the sheep sector, coupled with a strong commitment to sustainable and innovative farming practices. Her passion and drive, combined with her academic achievements, highlighted her potential to make a significant contribution to the industry.
