NSA North Sheep 2025 Unveils New Animal Health Area to Boost Flock Productivity

NSA North Sheep 2025 is proud to introduce the Animal Health Area, a ground-breaking addition to this year's event designed to equip sheep farmers with the latest research, technology and practical skills to enhance flock health and productivity.

In collaboration with AHDB, Moredun and SCOPS, the Animal Health Area will offer a full schedule of interactive sessions, expert-led discussions and hands-on demonstrations to address key health challenges faced by sheep farmers today. Topics will include disease diagnostics, parasite control and innovative flock management solutions, ensuring attendees gain invaluable insights to optimise performance and sustainability.

One highlight of the program is the post-mortem demonstration by renowned sheep pathologist Ben Strugnell, providing an in-depth look at disease diagnosis and prevention. With years of experience in the field, Ben will showcase real-life case studies, offering farmers a unique opportunity to understand disease development and mitigation strategies first-hand.

Other key sessions include a deep dive into Haemonchus risks in the North of England, an interactive worm control session using the award-winning FEC Check App, a liver fluke management seminar addressing climate-driven parasite adaptation and an opportunity to hear about the results of the AHDB's seven year-long Challenge Sheep Project from one of the farms involved.

Nerys Wright SCOPS technical advisor overseeing SCOPS participation commented, "We will have an informative stand and will be leading seminars on parasite management in the Animal Health area throughout the day." Kevin Harrison SCOPS Chair also added, "This is a great opportunity to come and meet Nerys and other members of the steering group, so please join us to learn more about the latest advancements and best practices in parasite control for sheep."

Alasdair Nisbet Deputy Director of the Moredun Group said "Moredun are delighted to collaborate with NSA, SCOPS and AHDB in this initiative to provide an Animal Health Area at NSA North Sheep, focusing on internal parasites of high economic and health importance in sheep. The area will allow farmers to obtain up-to-date information and engage with researchers and industry specialists, all in one location at this event. We look forward to lots of useful discussions and a busy day!"
