NSA embraces proactive flock health in new NSA event this autumn
The National Sheep Association (NSA) will celebrate the work of UK sheep farmers in keeping the national flock healthy with a dedicated ‘Sheep
Health Week’ this October.
From breeding to nutrition, so many factors are instrumental in ensuring optimum flock health and NSA will be covering many of these topics in a
series of face to face and online events providing valuable, practical advice.
Kicking off the week of activity will be the already established Sheep Health, Wealth and Production (SHWAP) online conference, organised by
NSA South East Region. Taking place in the form of evening webinars the conference will welcome highly experienced and respected speakers to
deliver three engaging webinar sessions. Topics to be covered include the use of data to monitor physical and financial performance and
building annual feed budgets.
Registrations for SHWAP are already open and can be made via the NSA website for the three webinars taking place on Monday 23rd, Tuesday
24th and Thursday 26th October 2023.
Excitement is also building for the inaugural NSA Sheep Farmers Conference. Taking place on Wednesday 25th October 2023 the event will
focus on sheep health offering a line up of the most experienced and knowledgeable experts from the UK sheep sector, ready to pass on
valuable information through various interactive sessions and networking opportunities.
The conference is to be held at the convenient location of the National Conference Centre, Birmingham, very close to road, rail and air links,
making the day relevant and accessible to delegates from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
NSA is proud to offer three seminars featuring headline speakers as part of the conference.
* ‘Who does it best? A four nation approach to animal health and welfare’
* Attitude and approach: To what extent is sheep health in the hands of individual producers?’
* ‘Wise investments. A discussion on where money is best spent to improve health, welfare and productivity’.
In addition to the seminar programme, interactive workshops will be taking place at set times during the day and sheep focussed trade stands
will give attendees opportunity to discuss the latest ideas and products.
NSA Chief Executive Phil Stocker says: _“We are excited to offer this new event to farmers from all over the UK. Given how vital healthy sheep
are to productive farming businesses with an eye on sustainability, lower emissions and a wide range of other public goods, the conference
will deliver timely and practical advice to all who attend. It will be an event not to be missed!”_
Full conference details, speaker line ups and sponsors can be found on the NSA website. Tickets for the conference are priced to be affordable
for all to attend but are limited in number so interested parties are encouraged to book now with NSA members offered a discounted ticket
price. Visit www.nationalsheep.org.uk/events/conference to purchase tickets today.
Throughout NSA’s Sheep Health Week producers are encouraged to keep up to date with activity by following NSA on its social media platforms
@natsheep on Facebook, Twitter and @nationalsheep on Instagram. Sheep farmers are also encouraged to show their support for the week
themselves by sharing their own day to day experiences keeping their sheep flocks flourishing healthy and productive adding the hashtag
#sheephealthweek to their social media stories.
