The NFU Mutual Charitable Trust is pleased to announce donations totalling £118,500 to support 11 UK charities. The funding boost will help deliver a range of initiatives, such as relieving rural poverty, supporting helplines offering emotional and practical advice, providing affordable housing for farming families and helping to sustain food and farming education. 

The charities set to benefit from the donations are:

• Access to Farms

• Addington Fund

• Farming Community Network

• Farms for City Children

• Gareth Raw Rees

• Nuffield Scholarship

• Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (R.A.B.I)

• Royal Highland Education Trust (RHET)

• Rural Support

• The Alzheimer’s Society

• Wales YFC

The NFU Mutual Charitable Trust is one of the main ways leading rural insurer NFU Mutual provides charitable support for its communities.

This latest round of donations follows £739,000 of funding announced in May, after the insurer pledged an additional of £750,000 to the Charitable Trust as part of its £32m Coronavirus support package.   

This year, The Charitable Trust has now made donations totalling over £857,000 and expect overall donations during 2020 to reach £1m by the end of the year. Applications for November’s round of donations are now open.

The donations will be available immediately, allowing the charities to continue to provide crucial support services at a time when their usual fundraising events have had to be cancelled.
