The all-new Syngenta Portal now gives farmers and agronomists instant access to essential weather data and digital crop management tools on the move, to help make more timely and effective day-to-day agronomy decisions.

The advanced digital ag Syngenta Portal app for smartphone and tablet taps into a vast global database of weather metrics, and applies the relevant information to individual farms. The easy to interpret weather metrics have been specifically selected by Syngenta agronomists and application specialists for their influence on crop growth and management.

The Syngenta Portal app also integrates with the company’s Partnership Plan loyalty programme, giving growers access to their account, topical recommendations, new products and valuable offers. Members can view their available rewards, including gift cards from popular retailers, 3D ninety nozzles and a wide range of Apple products.  

The app is available now to download for free from the App Store and Google Play. Registration is quick and easy to enter farm details and start receiving tailored agronomy information. Existing users of the original Syngenta myField app may see an auto-update to the Syngenta Portal and simply need to update their registration and farm details.

First up for agronomy tools in the new Syngenta Portal is the BlightCast model, which uses the Hutton Criteria to provide a 7-day advance disease and infection warning for a farm location and enables growers to fine-tune their blight protection strategy.

The QUANTIS ^TM Heat Stress tool gives potato and sugar beet growers a 7-day forecast of temperatures that risk damaging effects on root crops. QUANTIS should always be applied at tuber initiation, but can also help to mitigate temperature impacts throughout the season. Having advance warning allows growers to take preventative action and apply QUANTIS™ at the optimum time.

The highly popular and well-regarded Syngenta BYDV Assist will be available in the app for the autumn season. It also creates the platform for further cereal disease forecasting models and crop management support in the future, according to Syngenta Customer Loyalty Lead, Ed Flint.  

“Using these tools enables farmers and agronomists to foresee potential risks before they impact on the crop, and in time to take appropriate preventative action,” he advises.

Syngenta Portal also integrates elements such as spray window opportunities to optimise application timing and enables in-depth interrogation of the weather data, such as rainfall, soil moisture and soil temperatures, to better understand the implications for crops at an individual farm level.

“It now goes one stage further, by providing direct links to solutions and techniques that will help in decision making and practical applications, including essential product label and safety data sheet information,” Ed points out.
