New cases of avian flu takes total outbreaks to over 50
Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 was confirmed in poultry at the following premises this week taking the total to over 50 according to government figures.
There were new outbreaks near Alford, East Lindsey, Lincolnshire, near Thirsk, Hambleton, North Yorkshire and near Alford, East Lindsey, Lincolnshire.
Earlier this week in poultry and other captive birds near Market Bosworth, Hinckley and Bosworth, Leicestershire and in poultry near Wem, North Shropshire, Shropshire.
All birds on the infected premises will be humanely culled. A 3km Protection Zone and 10km Surveillance Zone has been put in place around the premises.
