New agronomist for biostimulant specialist
Biostimulants specialist Orion Future Technologies has hired William Furness for the role of trainee agronomist. William joins an established team alongside agronomists Mike Stoker, Gerry Strydom and Kate Finlayson to help manage the increasing demand from agriculture for biological solutions.
Commenting on his new role, William says:
“It is an exciting time for biological solutions and Orion has been at the forefront of silicon-based products for many years, so I feel privileged to have been accepted for the role.”
Orion carries out trials in mainstream agriculture, horticulture and amenity sectors, and William will be assisting the team with these trials from December 1st.
“Orion is investing in research and development to bring an ever-increasing variety of biostimulant products to market at a time when growers are looking for alternatives to common chemicals. I will be involved in the trials, taking soil samples, scouting for pests and diseases and assessing crop nutrition,” he adds.
As a trainee, William will also be supported to further his agronomic credentials through both BASIS and FACTS qualifications.
“It is an excellent opportunity for me to immerse myself in a growing sector with a business that has pioneered biostimulants. I am looking forward to growing into the role and hoping that I will soon become a fully trained agronomist within the Orion team,” he concludes.
