Neonicotinoids affect bees' fertility
New research findings from the University of Bern in Switzerland suggest that neonicotinoid insecticides could affect bees’ reproductive capabilities. Three varieties of the systemic insecticides have been subjected to tight restrictions by the EU in light of their effects on bee health; the Bern findings come after a wave of previous research findings gave nuanced results on the differing effects of different neonicotinoids on different species of bee and other non-target insects.
