National All Breeds Show schedules out
Entry forms are out this week for the National All Breeds Show (NABS) offering the biggest ever prize money, an expanded format and new location - the Dairy Event and Livestock Show, to be staged at The NEC, Birmingham on Tuesday 6 and Wednesday 7 September.
Jointly organised by the Dairy Event and Livestock Show organiser, the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers and Holstein UK, and sponsored by Eprinex, NABS will feature seven different breeds, 300 stall places, and prize money up more than 30% on last year’s show to a total of £16,000, including £1,000 for the supreme championship, along with an array of prestigious trophies and silverware.
Judging will take place over two days to accommodate the five new classes for young stock and four classes for stockmanship. Day one, Tuesday commences with the new calf classes, the maiden and in milk heifers, the interbreed heifer in milk championship, and the inaugural interbreed stockmanship class for young handlers. Wednesday, day two will feature the cow in milk classes, culminating in the afternoon with the RABDF Perpetual Challenge Trophy for the supreme interbreed championship and the Bledisloe Perpetual Trophy for the best group of four.
Holstein UK’s Simon Gee explains: “We are delighted to launch this restructured event to provide the opportunity for breeders up and down the county with herds of all sizes and for newcomers as well as ardent NABS exhibitors, to compete for the most prestigious silverware and accompanying prize money on the dairy show circuit.”
RABDF chief executive, Nick Everington adds: “Relocating NABS to the Dairy Event and Livestock Show at The NEC, the easiest accessed venue in the UK, will provide exhibitors with the best opportunity to showcase their cattle in front of the largest possible audience of both British and international visitors.”
