Meadow Foods to increase it's September milk price by +1ppl

Meadow Foods has announced that it will be increasing its milk price by +1ppl from 1st September, taking their standard A litre milk price to 29.50ppl.  This positive price change will be added to the flat rate element of Meadow Food’s simple and straight forward price schedule, ensuring every producer benefits from it.

The decision to raise the milk price, for the fifth time this year, reflects the fact that dairy markets remain relatively strong and how the company is acutely aware of the pressures that the recent hot weather and lack of rain is causing on forage stocks on farm. Although this hasn’t yet significantly impacted milk volumes,  they may well be affected going forward.

Mark Chantler, Chief Executive at Meadow Foods, comments: “We’re pleased to be able to pass on to our farmers the continued improvements in the dairy market.  We do however remain focused on the overall dairy market which are currently giving some mixed messages on prices - with protein prices showing some signs of improvement but cream prices remaining unsettled.  We will continue to carefully monitor how both supply and demand develop over the next couple of months and react accordingly.”

Meadow Foods is the UK’s largest independently owned dairy group and leading supplier of quality dairy ingredients to the food industry. The award winning company operates from BRC A and AA accredited sites in Chester, Peterborough and Holme-on-Spalding Moor where they manufacture value added dairy ingredients 7 days a week for some of the UK’s best known food manufacturers.  Meadow Foods currently employs more than 300 people and handles in excess of 650 million litres of milk each year direct from over 650 farmer suppliers from across the UK.
