Makhteshim-Agan takes on new name of Adama

Our parent company Makhteshim Agan Industries, a world leader in crop protection solutions, and its subsidiaries around the world, including here in the UK, have announced they will move to using a new global brand, Adama.

The process will be conducted on a global basis with staggered country-by-country launches. The full transition to the new brand will be completed within 18 months.

The name Adama comes from the Hebrew word for ‘earth’ and reflects the company’s focus on meeting the needs of farmers, their advisers and suppliers and its commitment to advancing agriculture in its markets around the world.

Lisa Harlow, commercial director of Makhteshim-Agan UK, says: “The decision to move to the single global brand Adama marks another milestone in our evolution from a group of individual entrepreneurial companies into a leading, global-branded manufacturer of crop protection solutions. The transition to the new brand highlights our long-standing commitment to agribusiness and food security and allows us to communicate globally with a common voice and identity.

“As we take on this new shared brand we also recognise that many key aspects of the business will continue to be driven by local market needs,” says Ms Harlow. “The formal launch of the new brand in the UK is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2014, while the official name change of the parent company Makhteshim Agan Industries Ltd to Adama Agricultural Solutions Ltd took place in Israel on January 25, 2014.
