Major Dairy Event Returns to Carlisle
Harrison and Hetherington have today announced details that the 2014 Borderway UK Dairy Expo will to take place at Carlisle on Saturday March 8th 2014.
Attracting thousands of visitors from across the globe, this their 3rd dairy showcase, is a one day business event that is guaranteed to play host to some of the finest dairy genetics in the UK and the latest in dairy technology and innovation.
In 2013, Dairy Expo attracted over 300 livestock entries with The Grand Champion of Champions, being Holstein cow Lavenham Adeen, owned in partnership by Mark Nutsford, Anthony Grimshaw and Stephen Bell. Mark who will be entering livestock in 2014 tells us why this event has become such a huge success:
“Showing dairy cows is a major investment, and for us entering livestock at Dairy Expo is certainly a worthwhile investment. This is now a major event for the dairy industry and what I specifically like about it is the very warm welcome that we receive from Harrison and Hetherington and that the fact that they go out of their way to encourage family participation.”
Sure to be a key date on the dairy farmers’ calendars, Borderway UK Dairy Expo is an opportunity for breeders and farmers from across the United Kingdom to come together to compete with their animals and discuss the future of the dairy industry as a whole. On announcing the date for this year’s event, Operations Director of Harrison & Hetherington and Event Organiser David Pritchard said:
“Dairy farming plays such a huge role in the rural economy, and in arranging Dairy Expo our aim is to provide both a business event and showcase for livestock and trade exhibitors and the industry as a whole. The quality and quantity of stock seen at last year’s event was just outstanding, and I know that we will see even more highlights from the dairy sector.
Borderway UK Diary Expo, represents all aspects of the Diary Industry and is supported by several high profile businesses as mainline sponsors including CIS, Holstein UK, Norbrook Pharmaceuticals and Clydesdale Bank. Commenting in advance of the event Paul Burns, Customer and Technical Support Manager of ADF Milking Ltd, who attended the show last year said: “Borderway UK Dairy Expo is definitely a good platform to promote our Automatic Dipping and Flushing system, to the dairy industry. It is a fantastic location, and following on from last year’s event we generated new business.”
Such was the quality of the stock at last year’s event, the Canadian Judge Barclay Phoenix believed the Grand Champion of Champions, Holstein cow Lavenham Adeen, was one of the best cows he had ever seen.
This was endorsed by John Cochrane, UK Sales Manager of Cogent Breeding, who after last year’s Dairy Expo highlighted the importance of the event for him and the industry as a whole.
“It is a hugely important event because it is both where breeders can exhibit some of their best dairy cattle and somewhere all in the dairy industry can utilise as a platform to demonstrate their stock and cutting-edge technology.”
