Livestock 2012: Diversify to save leaving industry says CLA

The Country Land and Business Association believed that many farmers might be looking to leave the industry, mainly seeking to increase profitability and business sustainability and suggested renewable energy could be the answer.

With an increasing focus on renewable energy, it was perhaps not so surprising the CLA showcased a range of on-farm solutions for farmers to consider as a way of generating income and cutting farm costs at the Livestock Event today (04 September).

Sponsoring the Diversifarm exhibition at the Livestock Event 2012, the CLA offered advice on law, planning, tax and finance towards erecting renewable energy sources and tried to cover practical on-farm issues.

Speaking at the event, Agricultural Advisor, Ed Barker said; “This is a key show for the industry and a good opportunity for farmers to explore alternative sources of income. They can get impartial professional advice and the benefit of a fresh pair of eyes looking at their current assets and suggesting how to make best use of them.”

The CLA team offered advice on the stand covering arable, livestock, dairy and CAP reform as well as taxation, rural business and planning.
