Leading adviser to pass on valuable tips at NSA Next Generation autumn parasite workshop

The National Sheep Association (NSA) is excited to invite enthusiastic young sheep farmers to the first in a series of enjoyable and informative technical workshops this September.

The NSA Next Generation workshops will kick-off with a session led by well-known leading sheep consultant and Sustainable Control of Parasites in Sheep (SCOPS) Technical Adviser Nerys Wright.

Next Generation ready: Sustainable parasite management in a changing climate will take place on Thursday 11th September by kind permission of Will Roobottom, Cowley Hill Farm, Stafford. Will is an NSA Next Generation Ambassador and can often be seen on his popular Youtube and other social channels @CowleyHillFarm sharing the ups and downs of farming life. Will says: “I think it is important to share my experiences, even when things go wrong. It is the only way we can learn how to improve and prevent things going wrong again”.

NSA Next Generation Event Organiser Anna Wilson says: “NSA is delighted to announce the date of the upcoming NSA Next Generation Workshop. Supporting and engaging the next generation of sheep farmers is essential to the future of our industry, and this workshop represents a vital step in that direction. Through interactive sessions and real-life case studies, participants will have the opportunity to engage with industry experts and explore practical approaches to sustainable parasite control. This is critical not only for flock health but also for environmental sustainability”.

Independent sheep consultant Nerys adds: “Parasites are evolving alongside our changing weather patterns—warmer winters and, as we’ve seen this year, prolonged dry spells are shifting the way parasites behave on farms. It’s more important than ever that we understand these changes and adapt our management strategies. We can no longer rely on routine, blanket treatments. I’m pleased to be involved in this event to help the next generation of sheep farmers build confidence in making informed, sustainable decisions regarding parasite management.”

The workshop is FREE to attend and is open to under 35’s. All attendees will receive a free goody bag and refreshments will be available. Interest can be registered via the NSA website here.
