LAMMA '17 lots of new tractors and loaders to tempt

LAMMA 17 has an unrivalled reputation in the UK as the launch pad for all sorts of new machinery and ancillary kit and the upcoming event is no exception.

Visitors will be treated to a host of gleaming new metalwork when the show returns on 18 and 19 January 2017 at the East of England Showground, Peterborough.

Several major tractor and loader manufacturers and plenty of smaller ones are revealing a range of new offerings. We’ve outlined some of these below.

Two tractor series from CASE IH

The Luxxum range brings high specification to a lower power bracket. There are three models – 100, 110 and 120 – with rated power outputs of 99, 107 and 117hp, provided by 3.4-litre four-cylinder engines.

Key new in-cab features are the Multicontroller joystick, which operates key functions including gear and direction selection, linkage and spool valves, and the Multicontroller armrest, which incorporates controls for hydraulic and transmission tuning.

Four models in the new upgraded Maxxum series are available as standard, Multicontroller (MC) or CVX models, with 4.5-litre four-cylinder engines spanning rated power outputs of 116-145hp (145-179hp with PTO/transport boost).

There is also a 6.7-litre six-cylinder 145/179hp standard or MC Maxxum 150. Upgrades include new lighting, improved front axle damping, longer wheelbase and electronic vibration suppression.

Massey Ferguson’s new tractors and telehandlers

The MF 5700 Global Series will be represented by two mid-range models, the 100hp MF 5710 and the 110hp MF 5711. They are designed to carry out a wide range of operations on livestock, dairy and mixed farms.

MF 5700 specifications include turbo charger with electronic wastegate, AdBlue injection plus creeper gearbox option. The tractors feature Power Shuttle, with Power Control and Comfort Control, plus 58 litres/min hydraulic flow as standard and a 4.3t lift capacity.

Massey Ferguson's new TH telehandler line-up will also feature. The four models – MF TH6030, MF TH6534, MF TH7035 and MF TH7038 – are powered by 100hp and 130hp engines, with a lift capacity of between 3000kg and 3800kg to heights of 6m to 7m.

Also in the LAMMA spotlight will be the new MF 5713 SL tractor. This 130hp, four-cylinder, 4.4-litre has a lift capacity of 5.2t, front axle suspension and the option of AutoGuide.

Visitors to LAMMA will be able to take their first look at the new MF 6700 S Series, in the form of the MF 6718 S, a model capable of generating 175hp max (200hp with EPM).

John Deere’s unveils new top-of-the-range 6R tractor

John Deere’s latest utility and large horsepower tractors and FarmSight precision farming technology for 2017 will be featured for the first time on stand G17 at LAMMA, following their recent European launch.

The company’s top of the range 6R Series tractor makes its UK show debut at LAMMA. The 6250R, along with its 6230R stablemate, complete the line-up of John Deere 6R Series tractors from summer 2017.

The flagship six-cylinder tractor is rated at 250hp but has an engine boost of 50hp with intelligent power management (IPM), providing up to 300hp when required.

It weighs in at 9.3t, delivering more power than any other tractor in this weight class.

Both new tractors are powered by a 6.8-litre PowerTech PSS engine with dual turbochargers and advanced DPF and SCR technology, which responds very quickly to changing loads while consuming less fuel and meeting demanding Stage IV emission standards.

The upgraded AutoPowr transmission delivers maximum efficiency. The tractors also feature an all-new CommandPRO joystick, with 11 programmable buttons available for the hitch, PTO, SCVs, AutoTrac controls etc.

New Fastrac 8000 series

LAMMA visitors will be the first to see JCB’s Fastrac 8000 series tractors. Increased power and performance, a new cab providing class-leading levels of comfort and all-round visibility, and a fully hydrostatic steering system – a ‘first’ for a high-speed tractor – are among the key features of the new JCB Fastrac 8290 and 8330 that make their public debut.

The Fastrac 8290 is powered an 8.4-litre six-cylinder engine developing peak output of 306hp, while the 8330’s twin-turbo engine is tuned for 348hp.

A multi-mode CVT transmission with bespoke JCB control software provides the operator with different powertrain control strategies.

During heavy draft applications, JCB Activ Traction draws information from a radar speed sensor, hydraulics position control and cruise control to manipulate engine torque and maintain traction for the most cost-efficient performance.

The new Command Plus cab provides space, comfort and practicality.

New loaders from JCB

JCBs 413S agri mid-range loader will also be on view. It is one of three mid-range agricultural loaders to get the more spacious and better equipped JCB Command Plus cab, an engine that meets Euro Stage IV US Tier 4 Final emissions without needing a costly diesel particulate filter, and a temperature-reactive reversible cooling fan.

The machine can be equipped with a foldaway trailer hitch to make use of its first-rate towing ability and 48kph top speed.

With 145hp and 560Nm of torque available from its 4.8-litre JCB EcoMAX engine, the 413S offers high power-to-weight ratio.

Load-sensing flow-on-demand hydraulics supply oil at up to 156 litres/min for the articulated chassis steering, four-wheel power brakes and front end equipment.

New optional LED lighting, offers operators much better visibility when working in the dark.

A new compact wheeled loader – the JCB 403 Agri – will also be launched.

With a load capacity rated at 0.3cu m using a standard bucket, the new JCB 403 Agri is less than 2.2m tall and only 1.1m wide on narrow tyres, even when fitted with the new cab, available for the first time on a JCB wheeled loader of this size.

Standard loader arms on the JCB 403 Agri provide a load-over height of 2.6m. An extended arms option providing 2.8m of lift height is available.

A 40.5 litres/min gear pump provides quick hydraulic response and an adjustable constant flow of oil. There is a two-speed hydrostatic transmission with fine speed control and 92Nm of torque available in ‘low’ for digging into materials.

For maximum traction, manually-engaged diff locks front and rear can be added to the standard equipment, which includes parallel lift, hydraulic locking pins, joystick control of the hydraulics and transmission, and a brake pedal inching switch that avoids unnecessary wear and tear on the brakes.

JCB’s latest TM320S telescopic wheeled loader with enhanced equipment and features is also on show.

It has a revised cab interior with new instruments and storage facilities, extended service schedules for the air conditioning filters and bearing assemblies, and enhanced lighting for easier operation in the dark.

The 4.8-litre JCB EcoMAX engine provides 145hp, which combines with torque lock-up direct drive in the six-speed Powershift transmission to give the machine great climbing and road performance.

UK debut for new Manitou loader range

Manitou’s NewAg range of loaders will make its UK debut at LAMMA ’17. This new MLT (Manitou Loader Telescopic) range consists of nine models, featuring a wide choice of transmissions, an entirely new cab with easy access, optimal visibility, improved soundproofing and numerous innovations. They are powered by the new 3.6-litre Deutz TCD3.6L4 engine that develops 101-136hp depending on the model.

The NewAg is equipped with three new intelligent hydraulics concepts: “Quicklift” enables the operator to extend or retract the telescope and lift the boom simultaneously; “Bucket shaker” is a new function controlled via a single movement of the controls; “Return to load” memorises the exact angle of the initial position of the bucket, allowing the operator to perform loading operations without adjustment.

Specialist bank tractor from Reform

A new specialist bank tractor, the Reform Metrac H7RX, will appear at LAMMA. The 70hp Metrac hydrostatic drive machine has the largest lift capacity in its class, with front and rear linkages lifting 1500kg with a maximum gross vehicle weight of 3800kg.

The model has final drives in the axles, front, rear, crab and four-wheel steering, compact dimensions and safe operation at up to 45 degrees.
