HGCA will be running a range of events that aim to help growers with their milling wheat and malting barley challenges.


Malting Barley Breakfasts

 

The Malting Barley Breakfast events organised in conjunction with MAGB will cover broad technical and marketing issues specific to growing and selling malting barley. Each event will cover an AHDB current global and UK malting barley market outlook, a maltster’s opinion of the grain supply chain and a technical agronomy paper from ADAS on the science showing why nitrogen management for barley may need to be rethought. Malting Barley Breakfasts in Haddington and Warminster also have an optional tour of a local maltings after the event.

Milling Wheat Breakfasts

 

The Milling Wheat Breakfast events organised jointly with nabim will look at issues specific to milling wheat and will cover an AHDB analyst’s view on market prospects for milling wheat, a technical presentation that will cover issues such as black-grass, nitrogen management, the latest information on variety choices and fusarium head blight management . There will also be a local miller’s view on the demand and quality required by their business. Milling Wheat Breakfasts in Maidstone and Wellingborough will also have an optional tour of a local mill after the event.
