HZPC France Begins Construction of New Greenhouse for Mini Potato Tuber Production

HZPC France has started construction of a new production greenhouse in Ruisseauville, France, designed to produce up to 2 million mini potato tubers. The first shovel was put into the ground by the Melchior Company at the site of Benoit Henguelle, a seedling producer who rents his land to HZPC.

New Greenhouse to Strengthen Mini-Tuber Production

The greenhouse project forms part of HZPC’s HARMONY strategic project, under the focus area of providing technical support to produce quality seed in an increasingly restrictive production environment.

According to HZPC, the initiative is aimed at strengthening relationships with producers, customers and other stakeholders by promoting synergies, improving reliability and putting people at the center of shared objectives.

Increasing Production Capacity and Quality in France

The new greenhouse will enable HZPC France to become fully autonomous in mini-tuber production, complementing the mini-tubers already produced by growers of the Comité Nord.

The additional production capacity will also allow HZPC to reduce the number of generations in the production chain, with the aim of improving production quality. At the same time, the greenhouse is expected to increase the company’s capacity and speed of marketing mini-tubers in France.
