How Farmers Saved Over 132B Gallons of Water in 2024
Phytech's report highlights how digital farming technology prevents 7.9 million plant stress days and cuts carbon emissions equivalent to 12.6 million gallons of gasoline
Farmers worldwide saved over 132 billion gallons of water in 2024 using Phytech's technology to optimize the farming production value chain, a 20% improvement over industry standards and equivalent to the annual water consumption of more than 3.1 million U.S. households. This is one of the key insights from the newly released Phytech 2024 Sustainable Practices Report that highlights environmental resilience and resource efficiency while optimizing yields.
Phytech offers a proprietary platform that optimizes the farming production value chain using advanced plant and field condition sensors. The platform delivers data-driven agronomic insights and recommendations, which are executed through in-field automation controls."
These innovations helped prevent 7.9 million plant stress days in 2024, translating to healthier yields and a 94% reduction in water stress. The environmental impact Is equivalent to the carbon absorbed by 261,131 acres of forest annually, an ecological milestone.
Phytech's platform reached 402,426 acres, tracking 43 million trees across 18,000 fields globally, demonstrating its platform's scalability and reliability. Phytech's emphasis on accessible technology ensures these benefits reach farms of various sizes, contributing to a more equitable and sustainable agricultural landscape.
The Phytech 2024 Sustainable Practices Report showcases significant strides in water conservation, carbon reduction, and energy efficiency while highlighting how the organization is transforming agriculture to address global environmental challenges.
Phytech's water savings in 2024 reflect a 20% improvement over industry benchmarks. Additionally, by reducing irrigation pumping, Phytech cut carbon emissions by 112,221 tons, avoiding the environmental impact of consuming 12.6 million gallons of gasoline.
This platform has empowered farmers worldwide to optimize resources, reduce waste, and respond effectively to the growing challenges posed by climate change. By leveraging real-time insights, growers are achieving healthier crops while significantly decreasing environmental strain.
"Phytech helped us save over 316 million gallons of water in 2024 and cope with the water issues in Arizona," said Ryan McGuire, Ranch Manager at Peacock Nuts Company, Arizona. Similarly, Charl Marais from Roodehoogte Farm in South Africa noted: "Phytech is by far the best system I've ever used. It really takes the stress and guessing out of farming."
"Farmers worldwide face the challenge of feeding a growing population while meeting resource constraints, regulations, and demand for sustainable, healthier produce," said Sarig Duek, Phytech's Chairman. "Our mission is to provide growers with in-field actionable insights that ensure optimized yields while driving efficiency and sustainability. Our 2024 report is a testament to the way our customers are leveraging data and leading a digital transformation in agriculture."
Phytech's technology also addresses energy efficiency by encouraging smarter irrigation practices. In 2024, 90% of the 5.9 million irrigation events surveyed in the report occurred during off-peak hours, lowering energy costs and reducing strain on the power grid.
Phytech's impact goes beyond regional borders. It provides farmers with scalable solutions for diverse agricultural environments. With scientifically validated data from leading global institutions, Phytech has set a new standard for accuracy and reliability in sustainable farming technologies.
