Harvest Results iPhone app accounting for large proportion of data
The Farming Online Harvest Results iPhone app launched earlier this month is already accounting for over a quarter of the overall area submitted so far.
The Harvest Results launched just over 7 days ago and has already attracted yield data representing 17,000acres from 8 barley and 9 oilseed rape varieties, with the iphone app accounting for nearly 5000acres.
The app allows iPhone users to add pre harvest data (variety & area) before harvest, followed by moisture & yield post harvest. Both pre & post harvest data will be anonymously benchmarked so you can see the varieties/yields grown nationally and near you.
The app includes functionality to handle poor connectivity, so results are not lost when outside of connectivity range.
For non-iPhone users we have developed a mobile site form, so results can be submitted direct from the field for Barley, Oilseed Rape & Wheat.
For 2012, wheats have been split into 1st & 2nd grown, providing greater detail to the existing analysis.
The Harvest Results is sponsored by Syngenta and is free to all participating farmers. Now in its fifteenth year it attracts over 120,000acres of submitted data annually. Variety yield averages are only displayed once a minimum of two different results have been submitted from two different farms. All results are moisture adjusted.
